Shared Swedish Stories
Community Connect
I remember being tucked up in bed by my parents who read Swedish folktales. It was not only the amazing adventures in the stories, but the illustrations by John Bauer that captured my imagination. I could sprint away on a magical moose or hide under my covers so that the trolls would not take me away to join their family! John Bauer's beloved paintings were influenced during a Scandinavian artistic period that romanticized the Old Norse culture during the turn of the 20th century.
Please enjoy some of Bauer's illustrations!
