Monthly Luncheons
Monthly luncheons open to the public and good will donations help support the center.
They are typically held from 11 am - 1 pm. You can eat at the SHC or take away.
Festivals
The Swedish Heritage Center hosts two seasonal festivals in the town of Oakland, NE
Midsommar Festival
Midsummer is a major Northern European festival celebrated in June to mark the summer solstice. It is a time of gathering with family and friends and enjoying nature at the height of summer!
The Swedish Heritage Center hosts this event, featuring traditional midsummer fun such as a midsummer pole, music, food, and family-friendly activities.

Sankta Lucia & Julefest
Another Northern European festival that remembers St. Lucy, a 4th century Sicilian girl who brought food to Christians in hiding while wearing a crown of candles to light her way and martyred for her activities. Swedish tradition is for the children to dress up with the oldest girl as Sankta Lucia and her handmaidens and star boys and bring lussekatter (saffron buns) to parents and cherished adults.
The Swedish Heritage Center holds an evening celebration that includes a traditional Christmas smorgasbord and Santka Lucia procession.

Venue Rental
Community organizations, families, bridge and card players, and various groups are invited to reserve their meetings at the Swedish Heritage Center. Our venue can hold approximately 60 people, and the kitchen is fully equipped with tableware, crystal, flatware, coffee pots and the necessary cooking equipment. You are welcome to use those items and do not have to bring all those items from home…
